Astrum - Side Table
Dappled black and white petrified wood side table. Its unique black color is derived from the presence of organic carbon in the soil mineral or also known as pyrite. Finished with a glossy, smooth polish over the black and white scarring patters. Some cracking and natural occurrences are to be expected, but the incredible beauty of this expansive accent table it ready to elevate any lounge space.
Petrified wood is a type of fossilized wood that has been replaced by minerals over time, typically silicates such as quartz. This fossil wood forms when fallen trees or other woody plants are buried under sediment, such as volcanic ash or river sediments. Over time, groundwater containing dissolved minerals can seep into the buried wood, and as water evaporates, the minerals are left behind and gradually replace the organic material in the wood.
